John Lilburn – an active participant of the English Revolution, a leader of the Levellers, fought in the first civil war in the rank of lieutenant colonel on the side of Parliament, in 1645, when forming O. Cromwell and the Parliament of the new army left the army. Cromwell and Parliament formed a new army, in 1645, he left the military service (despite the fact that he was offered a high command post) for political and ideological reasons (unwillingness to swear to the Covenant), initially supported the Independents, later one of the ideologists of the radical party of Levellers (equalizers).
Lilburne was a defender of “the ancient rights and liberties of England” and a fighter against “the consequences of the Norman Conquest”, that is, he advocated the establishment of a republic and the granting of broad democratic rights and freedoms to the population.

Джон Ли́лберн — активный участник Английской революции, лидер левеллеров, воевал в первой гражданской войне в чине подполковника на стороне парламента, в 1645 году при формировании О. Кромвелем и парламентом армии нового образца ушёл с военной службы (несмотря на то, что ему предлагали высокий командный пост) по политическим и идеологическим соображениям (нежелание присягать Ковенанту), первоначально поддерживал партию индепендентов, позже один из идеологов радикально настроенной партии левеллеров (уравнителей).
Лилберн был защитником «древних прав и свобод Англии» и борцом против «последствий нормандского завоевания», то есть выступал за создание республики и предоставление населению широких демократических прав и свобод.

Flaming revolutionaries – book series of the USSR Publishing House of Political Literature (Moscow), started in 1968 and existed until 1990.
The aim was to convey in fiction the facts of biographies and popularization of progressive and revolutionary figures of all times and peoples. It was issued in hard cover, in “pocket” format 70×108 1/32 (the book was placed in a coat pocket), width 137 mm, height 172 mm, average thickness 29 mm, usual circulation of one book – 300 000 copies, usual price 1 ruble 50 kopecks.
Both little-known and major Soviet writers were involved in the series.
Пламенные революционеры – книжная серия Издательства политической литературы СССР (Москва), начатая в 1968 году и просуществовавшая до 1990 года.
Цель – передача в художественной литературе фактов биографий и популяризация прогрессивных и революционных деятелей всех времен и народов. Выпускалась в твердой обложке, в «карманном» формате 70×108 1/32 (книга помещалась в карман пальто), ширина 137 мм, высота 172 мм, средняя толщина 29 мм, обычный тираж одной книги – 300 000 экземпляров, обычная цена 1 рубль 50 копеек.
