Sheikh Bedreddin Mahmud is a Sufi sheikh; a theologian, jurist, mystic and preacher who declared himself a prophet. The sheikh is considered one of the leaders of a large-scale revolt in the Ottoman Empire in 1416 or 1420, combining the revolt of Börklüje Mustafa in the Karaburun peninsula, the revolt of Torlak Kemal in Manisa, and the revolt in Rumelia. In Rumelia, the revolt may have occurred simultaneously with that of Mustafa Çelebi. All rebellions were suppressed and their leaders executed.
Bedreddin’s work on fiqh was used for many years by muftis and qadi as a reference work and was also used in the creation of the majalla in the nineteenth century. In the 20th century, Marxist authors in Turkey interpreted Bedreddin’s ideas as revolutionary, and Nazım Hikmet wrote an epic poem about him.

Шейх Бедреддин Махмуд — суфийский шейх; богослов, юрист, мистик и проповедник, объявивший себя пророком. Шейх считается одним из вождей крупномасштабного восстания в Османской империи в 1416 или 1420 году, объединившего восстание Бёрклюдже Мустафы на полуострове Карабурун, восстание Торлака Кемаля в Манисе и восстание в Румелии. В Румелии, возможно, восстание произошло одновременно с восстанием Мустафы Челеби. Все восстания были подавлены, а их руководители казнены.
Труд Бедреддина по фикху много лет использовался муфтиями и кади как справочное пособие, а также был использован при создании маджаллы в XIX веке. В XX веке марксистские авторы в Турции интерпретировали идеи Бедреддина как революционные, а Назым Хикмет написал о нём эпическую поэму.

Flaming revolutionaries – book series of the USSR Publishing House of Political Literature (Moscow), started in 1968 and existed until 1990.
The aim was to convey in fiction the facts of biographies and popularization of progressive and revolutionary figures of all times and peoples. It was issued in hard cover, in “pocket” format 70×108 1/32 (the book was placed in a coat pocket), width 137 mm, height 172 mm, average thickness 29 mm, usual circulation of one book – 300 000 copies, usual price 1 ruble 50 kopecks.
Both little-known and major Soviet writers were involved in the series.

Цель – передача в художественной литературе фактов биографий и популяризация прогрессивных и революционных деятелей всех времен и народов.
